In this day and age, most electronics have a small LED light that tells you when the unit is OFF, or in "standby" mode.
Some people find this very annoying, especially with electrical equipment in the bedroom where that tiny light can
illuminate an entire room while you are trying to sleep. A "bedroom friendly" converter box does not have any lights
illuminating when the power is turned off on the unit, allowing you to get a good night's sleep.
